Don AsbeeHartsburg MO 65039Great website, Susan. So wonderful that you have done so well with your art!
Lynn BasaChicagoHi Susan! I just checked out your site. Spectacular work! Lynn
Nadine PerremanBelgiumWow, I was amazed while going through your gallery, especially the New York Time Square. I'm a Holga-user myself (lomography all the way) and tried this technique a few times, you can find them in my lomohome (MizzFonky / Botanic_City). Your work gives me a lot of inspiration and ideas, I can't wait to go out with my Holga and shooting a bunch of films. Best regards.
newtmoreDCGreat work...beautiful, surreal images.
lorna simaustraliaI'm crazy about the holga, but seeing what you've done with it makes me feel more excited about the vast potential of using a holga. I tried your method & failed badly in that i had used the wrong ISO film. Can you give me some advice?
Mark VesuvioBrooklynGreetings. I saw your two pieces at the Williamsburg Art Center show a few weeks ago and I must say that your work spoke to me the most of all the 150-or so artists represented. Your work is deep, and I trust that it'll get the recognition it deserves. Thank you for inspiring me to continue to develop my voice in this mystical medium of photography. Ciaociao.
ThereseSydney AustraliaHi Susan, I am just starting out with my Holga and I came across your work in a Toy Camera book. Your work is amazing and has inspired me a great deal to keep on playing with my Holga. Your neon and subway work are my favourites. Therese
Gary MJerseyIt was a pleasure meeting you at your Soho show. Seeing your panos in person was worth the trip! Looking forward to seeing more :)
amina bechNorwayBeautifully created scenes... Thanks for sharing your world! amina
Gary BowenMontrealSusan, your motif show a clean innate form of what I see as how plastic and blended the human urban scape is. Very lovely. Gar
Bert MarroNYCWOW, Susan; your work is becoming ever more visually complex and exciting! You've got lots tighter texture going, which gives the work much more energy. When you combine that with symmetry, in Sea of Snakes, the effect is phenomenal!
robert-great idea!
PeterConnecticutLove the work.
Susan Ford TurcotteRelay, MarylandAre you the Susan Bowen that I grew up with? Let me know if you went to Relay Elementary and are my best friend from grade school. Thanks.
Jean G.PSUMCTruly exciting photography. Hope you add me to your e-mail list

Michelle TurnerFernley, NVI work at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, NV and walk by your photos almost every day. I grew up on a farm in Montana and love the "Iowa Meanderings" collection. These unique photos are a refreshing change for this old farmer's daughter!!! I am thinking about purchasing a print for my dad.
Norma and ChipBrooklynHi Susan! I love your work...thanks so much for keeping us on the mailing list....hope we can see some of this (and you) in person someday.....
noel s.santa cruz, ca/brooklyn, nySusan! What beautiful work! Viva la Holga! :) Noel
susanart directionsLove your photos. I'll stop by at Art Expo. Just wondering the Time Square piece 5'x15" what would the cost be to me. thanks Sue
Gilles Saint-YvesParis (France)Wonderful and incredible ! Congratulations Gilles
bmckeownUSAWonderful work. I loved it; all the composites and the Holga stretch limo work. Traveling with you was wonderful. Work it and exhibit it. Buds Bob
DeniseSan FranciscoNice Work! Unique and obviously quite dialogue provoking.
Rhonda L. WilsonReno, NevadaSusan, Very interesting. I especially like "Reflections to Go". There is alot of energy and movement in these images. It can make you feel like a small town person just hitting the overwhelming streets of a big city for the first time. The bombardment of sensory overload. Not badly either. More stimulating instead.
Allison ArgoThe airport in HoustonWONDERFUL!! I love your statement, too. Sooooo articulate! xAllison
Kenton K. BrownAustin, TxSusan- I met you @ Fotofest. You have some really creative images. I really like the Darkroom Composites. Keep up the work I think you're really on to something. Kenton www.kentonkbrown.com
Sarah ZamecnikMilwaukee WisconsinI really enjoy your work, it is an idea that I myself am working on for my senior portfolio this year. It's amazing what a cheap camera can do. I love it. If you have a further thoughts upon your work I would really love to hear it, just email me.
JP Zorn-I saw your work at digitalsucks and then looked at your website. Great, great work. Very strong and imaginative. Your shots all give a sense of place and life in that place that is truly unique and extremely vibrant. Just completely stirring stuff.
FM Rosas-Hi Susan, i love your work and write to say thanks in some kind of inspiration to me with your images, congratulations.
H Haggerty-I'd like to see your work on the walls! well, I'll hit a gallery one of these days. How big are the prints?
Sonya-I am a high school photography student in need of advice! While researching for a photography project, I came upon your website and was immediately interested by your Times Square gallery. Your overlapping photos really caught my eye as telling a story or capturing the feeling and atmosphere of a place. I attempted this technique myself by using a manually advanced camera, taking a picture, advancing the film, then partially rewinding it before taking another shot. How do you get such a seamless picture
AndyChicagoWoah, I love the technique you use with advancing the frames... my personal favorite is "reflections to go" if you want to see my photography, visit http://www.atomicandy.com ... :)
E. CorrallUnited KingdomI'm an A level photography student in the UK and have recently started a project on time and accumulations. I think multiple exposure is the best and most interesting technique to use to portray these themes. I think your work is really spectacular, especially the way you have created long images, you are my main inspiration for my project. I would like to create similar images myself in my local, rural environment. I would love to achieve such a good affect, capturing emotion and atmosphere...
H. PoskanzerBerkeley, CAI really enjoyed your work. I was searching around the web for multiple exposures, since I also take them, and I found your page. Really stunning. Your 'captured moment' is remarkably similar to the feeling I have about my own work, except that mine are generally of nature instead of a city. Thanks again for your work.
B. AndrewsPortland, ORI noticed you have a link to my web site on your photography site. Thanks for the link. I'm curious how you discovered my site, since I don't advertise it or tell many people about it. Perhaps it was related to the fact that my site links to yours (I picked up one of your cards at Photoamericas in Portland, and liked your web site). Anyway, I enjoy your photography quite a bit. I am into panoramic photography and I think you take it in a fresh direction. Keep up the good work.
Walter CrumpBostonAmazing work. I guess you could call her camera technique 'Holga-panning'. Sometimes a strange technique is interesting in itself but soon tires. Sue's work uses a unique technique but the photographs themselves are strong and fascinating. They touch a cord that resonates in memory long after viewing.
anne majakariorebro, swedengreat gallery! nice to see new ideas! love your holga stuff. how do you develop the photos after you get the negatives? do you sort of "plan" your exposures or do you just shoot from the hip, referring to the photos on your site. it sure gives me new ideas! good luck in the future and keep shooting! /anne http://annelito.just.nu
L. SapadinBrooklyn, NYI was delighted to find your web site. I don't see much current photography, but I've certainly never seen anything like this. Does anyone else shoot like this? Your approach seems unique to me, and extremely effective and exciting. It brings to mind the Latin American muralists. I saw Diego Rivera's famous River Rouge murals in Detroit not too long ago, and they had the same head-swiveling, progressive narrative effect on me.
heungmanNew York, NYhello susan, it was wonderful to get to know your montage wk. i especially like the fluency in your process. please keep up the good wk. i also do experimentation with the same camera but mainly with portraiture. hope to see more in your next exhibition.
Becky RamotowskiSan Antonio, Texas (where else)I think you need to go to Rio! Thanks for the uplifting gallery.
Susan JohnsonBrooklyn, New YorkHi Susan, My favorite is your Austin Mosaic with Self Portrait. I especially love the self portrait. It's spontaneous, sensitive and joyful. Keep on a goin! Susan Johnson
Pui WongBrooklyn, New YorkI've many favorites of your work, and "Graffiti Window" has to be top there. I like the stark contrast of red on black, and the shimmering image of cellophane-like wrappings (the windows). I like the edginess and dissonance, the sense of place that is urban New York.
Andy GordonSilver Spring, MDMs. Bowen, I think your photos are great. I have been searching the web for photo sites. Most of the ones I have found are simple photos of things in nature. Not that interesting. But I like the way you have worked the camera so images are merged together. The viewer has to think about what he or she is seeing. Also makes it good for repeated viewings. I have come back to the site often to re-view the various sets you have posted. Congratulations on your great work. Best of luck.
Idell ConawayNew York CityYour website is really nice, and I'm interested in your Exhibitions/Bio page where I followed all the links.. Images are really great in the anti-war show. Best of luck.. Question: have you sold anything in the online gallery? I've just joined one and am wondering.
M. ComstockBoston, MASusan, was looking through people's work on the PWP site...doing a little homework for the meeting about war and peace exhibit this weekend. I just had to tell you how much I was totally engaged by your work. And when I read in your statement how you achieve it, even more so. They are so full of energy, they put you right in that moment...but at the same time have an after resonance in them. I like so many, but have repeatedly gone back to 42nd Street. Bravo.
L. HealyFreeland, WAI find myself going back to your site constantly, loving the overlapping Holga images of New York. I'm curious as to how long you've been using the Holga. I'm a newcomer myself, and have been able to get some decent B&W overlapping rolls, but I haven't had much luck with color. Could I possibly ask you what ASA film you use? Thanks so much and thanks for posting such great images where so many can see them!
R. KincaidNew York, NYI am an architect here in NYC and love photography. I stumbled upon your web site and was simply amazed. Your images are wonderful and the multi-image technique is captivating. I especially liked your Jackson Square image...it took me right there! I have just purchased a Holga at B&H and am very pleased with my first images. My hope is to develop a web site and try to get my images out there. May I ask how your web site compares with galleries and shows in getting people to see your images?
